Brand Spotlight: ALEX AND ANI.

As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been partnering with ALEX AND ANI to promote the wonderful organizations they support via their Charity by Design collection. One of the new additions is the Claddagh bangle benefiting The Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation. The BCSF works in many ways to support children in need through schools, community centers and other social service facilities. As usual, 20% of the purchase price will go directly to the organization, so be sure to participate and get yourself one!

But what I realized is that I haven’t talked about ALEX AND ANI generally as a (fantastic) brand. For New Englanders, it has been so cool to see a local company grow into an international one… especially led by a #girlboss! What I love about ALEX AND ANI is that there’s truly something for every one. Whether you want to rep your college or favorite sports team, or you want something more understated to wear everyday, this company has got you covered! And it doesn’t seem like they’re slowing down any time soon… #charmedarms are here to stay! Check out how I wear my bangles below:

Designer Spotlight: Belle Force.

As the activewear market continues to grow, there are even more wonderful brands emerging to bring women stylish, unique and flattering workout wear. If you’re interested in feminine garments, look no further than Belle Force: a ballet-inspired brand paired with power and strength.

I happened to fall in love with this brand because of just that – the mix of delicate and commanding, functional and fashionable. I can totally envision the netting-trimmed bralette under a chunky knit with distressed jeans for a casual look just as easily as I can justify keeping those en-pointe leggings on with sneakers all day long. (They’re cute enough to, right?!)

Quick – pledge via Kickstarter to pre-order pieces before December 14! And if you want to give Belle Force for the holidays, simply ask for a customized gift certificate for that dancer or workout superstar in your life so they can #bethebelleofthebarre. The pieces will be shipped in the spring!

Designer Spotlight: Mustard Yellow.

As we know: distressed is in! From jeans to tees, fashion is all about the 90’s, chokers and brown lips included. Most recently, cut up vintage t-shirts are all over the place from It-Girls to street style stars and bloggers. If this trend is for you, (why wouldn’t an oversized shirt that looks high-fashion not be?!) you HAVE to check out Mustard Yellow. The brand makes hand distressed, one of a kind t-shirts that satisfy all of your “cool girl with an effortless vibe” needs.

I don’t know about you, but there have been many a time I try to cut my own shirts to look just like this… and it turns out way more clawed by a lion than I’d hoped. (Fail.) Might as well leave it to the professionals…

Check out the shop to buy some for yourself and always check back, since one of a kind shirts come and go all the time! (Some of the tees pictured aren’t on the site yet, so keep an eye out!)

Designer Spotlight: Paridaez.

Keeping on with the sustainable, versatile and chic local brands that Boston has to offer: it was a no-brainer that I post about Paridaez.

546

Allison, founder of the brand, aims to create pieces that transform into completely different articles of clothing that take you through all the roles of your day and life. (She IS a designer, professor, yoga instructor and non-practicing lawyer, after all.) For example, the Albatross dress (one of my favorites, wearing above) transforms from a work-appropriate skirt, to a tank, to a LBD fit for a night out.

I don’t know about you guys, but in today’s hyper-productive world, I want to be able to spend as much time as possible being a girl boss and having fun, as opposed to overthinking whether or not I’m truly prepared for the day ahead. Which is why Paridaez just gets it.

Be sure to follow along on Instagram … Especially for those of you in the Boston area – there are often pop-up shops and yoga nights featuring a look at the collection.

Designer Spotlight: VETTA

213

Closet full of clothes and nothing to wear? I’m assuming some of you, like myself, might feel that way every once in a while.  What that feeling really comes down to is that although there are hundreds (thousands?!) of options, there’s nothing in your closet for the particular day, event or look that you’re dressing for…

Enter VETTA, a capsule collection of five high-quality pieces that can be mix and matched to make THIRTY OUTFITS designed to take you from the office to the weekend to nighttime cocktails. Gone be the days of spending money on casual pants made for Sunday brunch that can’t be worn to your Monday morning meeting and say hello to the culottes instead.

In addition to feeling better about purchasing high quality pieces that actually infuse versatility and value to your wardrobe, VETTA is completely eco-friendly and sustainable. The pieces are composed of vegan fabrics and are manufactured in the United States (NYC to be exact). As consumers, being mindful in our shopping habits, as opposed to grabbing whatever fast fashion is in stores, really can add up to great strides in helping our environment. Reduce, reuse and recycle, as they say.

Unfortunately their spring collection is sold out but stay tuned – I hear there is a fall capsule collection in the works! Sign up for Insider Access to stay in the know about its release and follow VETTA on Instagram too – your closet will thank you!

PS – Although I styled my two piece dress super casual for a day of walking in the sun, you can imagine how quickly my look can be dressed up. Just slide down the skirt for a true two-piece outfit and add heels! See all the ways you can mix and match:

Designer Spotlight: PINI

SnipImageIf there’s one thing that Nick Pini does best, it’s unleash the inner carefree, California girl in just about anyone. There’s something glamorous yet effortless about his aesthetic that just screams ‘cool’. The infamous PINI Girl has a way of throwing on her dress, running out the door and still looking like a socialite. (The dream!)

For his FW16 collection, ‘Play To Win’, the designer infused his signature looks with a little more punk and playfulness than before – i.e. trademark teeny tiny hemlines, leather, ostrich feathers and pigtails. (Shop it here!)

So what’s next for the emerging designer? Nick says, “This next season is going to be yet another reflection of a new chapter in my life, PINI SS17 ‘Going To California’. I have spent a lot of time fusing the wearable with the editorial, but the designs in the upcoming season will ultimately be the most wearable to date (with a couple special pieces mixed in).”

Aside from the East Coast to West Coast move that he will embark on, Nick says he’s inspired by his mom and the music she listened to in her twenties. “Music is definitely always a huge part in the inspiration process, it serves as a soundtrack to the ideas in my brain.”  Lucky for us, Nick has some public playlists on Spotify, so we can listen along.

Whatever keeps him inspired, it seems like it’s working: Nick has put on numerous runways shows, been featured in newspaper articles and has a number of the fashion elite as fans. Not to mention, he has his sights set on a retail location and an even larger celebrity following.

Between his young spirit, never-ending will to succeed and his West Coast glam aesthetic, he’s definitely got the fashion world asking, “who doesn’t want to be a PINI girl?!”

Designer Spotlight: Jessica DeCarlo Jewelry.

It was a great day when I stumbled upon Jessica DeCarlo in NYC last year. I happen to have a thing for geodes, so you might see how I instantly gravitated towards her designs. She mixes urban style with natural elements to create some original and edgy pieces.
